MALLOY: Kootenai GOP was no help to Souza

When Sen. Mary Souza of Coeur d’Alene decided to leave her seat and run for secretary of state, she assumed she’d have generous support from North Idaho – and especially her longtime friends on Kootenai County’s Republican Central Committee. And why not? Former Lt. Gov. Jack...

A fond farewell to experienced leaders

They’re reasonable. Respectful. Well-educated. And in turn, highly respected. Coeur d’Alene Reps. Paul Amador and Jim Addis, this way to the door, please. We are taking nothing away from victorious Elaine Price and Carl Bjerke, whose circumnavigation of the local political planet that is Kootenai County Republican Central Committee helped them defeat Amador and Addis in Tuesday’s primary. Obviously, being KCRCC bedfellows paid off far more than years of public service did for incumbents Amador and Addis.

ELECTION: County knows best

I note that the press seems to have very little understanding of what it means to be a Constitutional American. Kootenai County voted differently than did the rest of the state of Idaho. Generally the people of Kootenai County supported very conservative candidates who recognize America is a Republic and who support reliance on the U.S. Constitution.

ELECTION: Opportunity lost

History is our greatest teacher and reveals patterns and truths about where we have come from and where we are headed. Our old-fashioned values of freedom, liberty and justice are what unites us as Idahoans. Our love for our faith, family and our fellow neighbors are what make our particular community such a remarkable place to live, work and raise our families to do the same.

In this case, the numbers don't lie

If you can’t beat ‘em, berate ‘em. Wait, that’s not how it goes. If you can’t beat ‘em, belittle ‘em. Poo. That’s not it, either. Despite what the open warfare rules of politics might dictate these days, maybe there’s still something of an approachable middle ground out in that bloody battlefield. Joining ain't gonna happen, so how about this for a compromise:
