Iowa Teacher Sentenced To 24 Years In Prison For Sex Acts With A Student: Report

A former Iowa teacher has been sentenced to 24 years in prison for enticement of a minor, it was reported. Abraham Christopher Smith — a 39-year-old teacher in Pleasant Hill — was sentenced Tuesday, October 19, with federal prosecutors accusing Smith of enticing a minor to have sex with him. Smith pleaded guilty in June, the Associated Press reported, per KCRG.

Pella Police, Marion County Sheriff’s Office Participating in DEA Take Back

Local law enforcement agencies are participating in an ongoing national effort to keep unused or expired prescription drugs out of the wrong hands. The Pella Police Department and Marion County Sheriff’s office are participating in national Take Back Day this Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. through the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration. Pleasant Hill teacher sentenced for sex acts with student

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) — A former teacher in Pleasant Hill has been sentenced to 24 years in prison for enticing a student to have sex with him. Federal prosecutors said 39-year-old Abraham Christopher Smith was sentenced Tuesday for enticement of a minor. Smith pleaded guilty in June. Prosecutors said in October 2020, Smith enticed a student at Southeast Polk High School into having sexual relations with him. Smith also used his cellphone to record the sexual activity. After completing his prison term, Smith will be required to register as a sexual offender and will be on supervised release for 10 years.

Search warrant executed in New Sharon related to Xavior Harrelson

New Sharon, IA- The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation executed a search warrant on a home in New Sharon related to the Xavior Harrelson case. Assistant Director of the Iowa DCI Mitch Mortvedt told TV station KCCI that the search is “part of an ongoing investigation into Xavior’s disappearance and death.”

Newton Police say 14-year-old Madison Ann Marie Rodgers left her home around 2:30am Saturday (10/16). Her father thought she would come home, but she hasn’t. Madison, who goes by the name Maddie, is 5’2” tall, with short brown hair and hazel eyes. She has a scar above her right eyebrow. Search Warrant Executed At Iowa Home Linked To Xavior Harrelson Case

(New Sharon) Officers from local, state and federal law enforcement agencies were at a home in New Sharon Tuesday, executing a search warrant. That home is linked to the Xavior Harrelson case, according to multiple media reports. Human remains found in a farm field near Montezuma have been confirmed as belonging to the 10-year-old boy who went missing. The A-T-F was following up on a firearms case – separate from the child’s death – and Iowa Public Radio is reporting the subjects in that case are associated with Xavior Harrelson’s family. Authorities say the boy’s death is suspicious.

The Nebraska State Patrol has identified the two semi-truck drivers killed in a crash on Interstate 80 Tuesday as men from Arizona and Iowa. Cody Thomas, a State Patrol spokesman, said an eastbound semi driven by Lloyd Shobe, 63, of Mesa, Arizona, crossed the median at about 11:15 a.m. near the Goehner exit and collided with a westbound semi driven by Richard Turner, 48, of Pella, Iowa.

Newton police are searching for a 29-year-old woman who was last seen Oct. 3 at Studio 360 School of Dance in Cedar Rapids. Jenna Lorraine Lawson is 5 feet tall, weighs approximately 124 pounds and has brown eyes and blonde hair, Newton Police Department stated in a press release.
