Klickitat County: Zone Two burn ban starts June 1

Klickitat County is establishing a ban on outdoor burning for Klickitat County Burn Ban Zone Two, defined as lands between the Klickitat County Fire District 7 eastern boundary west to the western boundaries of Klickitat County Fire Districts 4, 12 and 15, then north on the Klickitat River to the north county line. This includes but is not limited to Klickitat County Fire Districts 4, 5, 6, 7, 11, 12, 14 and 15; outside the jurisdiction of the Yakama Indian Nation; and the jurisdiction of the Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission and prohibiting the issuance of burning permits except for authorized agricultural burning.

Remains of missing The Dalles resident found in Klickitat County

Klickitat County Sheriff’s Office announced this Monday that detectives confirmed the remains of a missing person had been found in Klickitat County. According to the announcement, a hiker called Klickitat County dispatch on May 21 to report the discovery of skeletal remains in remote rangeland about two miles east of John Day Dam.

Skeletal remains found in Klickitat County

On the afternoon of 5-21-22, a hiker called Klickitat County Dispatch to report that he discovered skeletal remains in remote rangeland about two miles east of John Day Dam. Detectives with the Klickitat County Sheriff’s Office immediately launched a death investigation, which continued through 5-22-22. The WSP Crime Laboratory’s Crime Scene Response Team and the Klickitat County Prosecutor/Coroner’s Office assisted in the investigation.

KCSO arrest Sexual Assault Suspect

On June 1, 2021, Detective Robert Bianchi of the Klickitat County Sheriff’s Office, responded to a report of a sexual assault of a 12-year-old female victim, north of Goldendale, Washington. During the course of his investigation, Detective Bianchi was able to identify the suspect in the case and establish probable cause for the arrest of the suspect. The suspect left the area prior to Detective Bianchi being able to detain or interview him in the case.
