Physicals available for area athletes

It’s almost time for fall sports to begin. Once again, Parke Health will be offering sports physicals for middle school and high school athletes. MS/HS girls will be on Aug. 3 and MS/HS boys will be on the 4th, both days will be 1-5 p.m. Forms are available at BMS and BHS outside the office or at Parke Health located in Kit Carson County Memorial Hospital.

History Colorado’s State Historical Fund (SHF) announced a newly completed grant round that provides nearly $850,000 in grant funding for preservation efforts in 17 counties across the state. These awards leverage $481,419 in matching funding provided by grant applicants and their community partners to exceed over $1.3 million in total funds for these projects.

Child care assessment surveys being taken by ECCYWK

The Early Childhood Council for Yuma, Washington, and Kit Carson Counties (ECCYWK) works to increase the quality, accessibility, capacity, and affordability of early childhood programs across the three counties. Kit Carson County eats meat

The second annual ‘Meat In’ sponsored by the Kit Carson County Meat Producers was a delicious success. The event began last year in protest to Governor Jared Polis’s attack on the rural/agriculture sectors of the state with his ‘Meat Out Day’. Held in the new show pavilion at the KCC Fairgrounds, the event featured the wonderful tastes of local farmers, ranchers, livestock producers, local businesses, charitable organizations, and individuals. There was live music, face painting, miniature cows, and lots of good company to accompany the good food.
