Man convicted of murdering his girlfriend in Colonial Beach

A man who killed his live-in girlfriend at their home in Colonial Beach last year was convicted of first-degree murder Friday, court records show. Martin Edenilson Flores, 42, was also convicted of using a firearm in the commission of a felony and shooting in an occupied dwelling. He will be sentenced Dec. 3 in Westmoreland Circuit Court.

First Responders Extinguish Vehicle Fire Off Of Point Lookout Road

LEONARDTOWN, Md. -- On the Morning of August 3, first responders were called to the scene of a vehicle fire off of Point Lookout Road. At approximately 8:47 a.m. yesterday, crews from the Second District (Valley Lee) Volunteer Fire Department responded to the 21000 block of Point Lookout Road for the reported fire. Upon arrival, the firefighters discovered a Chrysler vehicle fully engulfed in flames, but they would work quick to have it out in roughly 15 minutes.

Drug Arrest- On July 17, 2021, Cpl. Pontorno conducted a traffic stop in the 22400 block of Three Notch Road in Lexington Park, and identified Kyle Matthew Kerig, age 19 of Leonardtown as the operator. Located in a plastic bag in Kerig's vehicle were suspected amphetamine pills. Kerig was arrested and charged with CDS: Possession-Not Marijuana. CASE# 36828-21.

At approximately 12:40 p.m. on August 3, first responders were dispatched to the scene of Chancellors Run Road for a reported vehicle accident involving a car and a van. Preliminary reports indicated that the van operator and a passenger occupant inside the van fled the scene of the accident, heading in the direction of Fox Chase on foot.

CLEMENTS, Md. -- On 8/2/2021, Tfc A. Opirhory and Tpr T. Eckrich conducted a traffic stop in the area of Colton Point Road, Clements, MD. The driver, and sole occupant of the vehicle gave several false names and was later identified as James Garrick Young, 62 of Bushwood, MD. Young was placed under arrest and transported to the St. Mary’s County Detention Center and charged with False Statement to Officer and Resist/Interfere with Arrest.
