Police: Woman arrested for speeding, swinging at officer

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - Authorities say a woman in North Charleston was arrested after she attempted to hit an officer during a traffic stop. Authorities say 23-year-old Tierra Williams was charged with speeding more than 25 mph over the speed limit and assault on a law enforcement officer while resisting arrest.

Several N. Charleston police officers turn in gear as vaccine deadline closes

NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - The City of North Charleston’s vaccine mandate for all employees went into effect Friday at noon. Phil Pendergrass says he was a school resource officer in Charleston County schools. He says about 15 other officers came to City Hall this morning to turn in their gear, in compliance with a letter from the city saying they would need to do so if they did not show proof of first vaccination by noon on Dec. 3.

Charleston classic restaurant coming to Forest Acres

COLUMBIA, S.C. — Lovers of Lowcountry cuisine will have another reason to celebrate next Spring when a Charleston classic opens a new location in Forest Acres. Poogan's Hospitality Group announced that it will open Poogan's Southern Kitchen at Cardinal Crossing, 4605 Forest Drive, in late Spring 2022. The restaurant will feature indoor and pet-friendly outdoor dining areas, a bar and private dining room. It will be situated along the Forest Drive side of Cardinal Crossing, across from Big Daddy's Burger Bar.
