10-01-22 man commits suicide in fdl police department lobby

Fond du Lac police are investigating after a man shot and killed himself in the Fond du Lac Police Department After-Hours lobby. Friday evening the Fond du Lac County Communications Center received a call from a 31-year-old Norfolk, Virginia man who was calling from the lobby indicating that he wanted to commit suicide. While on the phone with the Communications Center the male shot himself. Police officers found the man with a self-inflicted gunshot wound and began life-saving measures. He was transported to St. Agnes Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The investigation into this incident is at the preliminary stages and remains under active investigation. No further details or information are being released at this time. The City of Fond du Lac Police Department was assisted by the City of Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue Department and Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s Deputies Credited With Saving Bridge-Jumper

Two Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Deputies are being credited with saving the life of a suicidal person this past Wednesday. In a Friday, September 30th release from Sheriff’s Captain Matt Spence and Lieutenant Jim Gottsacker, the incident began on Wednesday when the Sheboygan County Sheriff’s Office was alerted that a resident of Sheboygan County was in crisis emergency and threatening to jump off the State Highway 144 bridge in the Town of Sherman near Random Lake. When the team arrived, Deputies Becker and LaPean observed the subject standing on the bridge deck, overlooking the railing.

30 Horses Exposed to Strangles in Wisconsin

On Sept. 29, the Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, and Consumer Protection confirmed a vaccinated 12-year-old Standardbred gelding at a boarding facility in Fond du Lac County positive for strangles. He presented with mild bilateral nasal discharge and a decreased appetite. He did not have a fever or lymphadenopathy (swelling or abscessation of the lymph nodes under the jaw) and is currently alive. Thirty horses were exposed at the facility, which is under voluntary quarantine.
