KY labor cabinet faces new struggles as it seeks to move past pandemic unemployment problems

FRANKFORT, Ky. — Solving the problems that plagued Kentucky's unemployment system during the pandemic is not proving easy. A company the Labor Cabinet wanted to hire to replace its antiquated computer system has withdrawn from negotiations, Labor Secretary Jamie Link told state lawmakers on Tuesday in Frankfort during the second meeting of the Unemployment Insurance Reform Task Force.

Kentucky state leaders lauded Brough Brothers Distillery on the recent opening of its Louisville operation, a project creating eight jobs with plans for future growth. “I want to congratulate the leaders of Brough Brothers Distillery as they open their facility to the public,” Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear said in a prepared statement. “This is a tremendous project for our state’s bourbon industry for a number of reasons, particularly as this is the first African American-owned distillery to be recognized as a member of the Kentucky Distillers’ Association. I look forward to seeing Brough Brothers grow in Louisville’s Park Hill neighborhood.”

Boil water advisory for South Ky. 11 in Knox

The Knox County Utility Commission has issued a boil water advisory for water customers on Hwy 11 South starting at 3474 S KY 11 and ending at 5522 S KY 11. This includes Prichard Branch and all side roads in between. This notice is due to a water leak repair that affected the water service in the areas noted, and is a requirement of the Kentucky Division of Water to protect public health and safety due to the slight chance of contamination due to the loss of pressure. Customers are advised to boil drinking water for short range use for at least three (3) minutes at a rolling boil. The Knox County Utility Commission will announce when the advisory has been lifted.
