BFHD announces an additional 34 local deaths from COVID due to backlog

TRI-CITIES -- The Benton-Franklin Health District announced 34 deaths from coronavirus in the Tri-Cities area due to a backlog of cases from the Department of Health. This recent report states that there were 12 recent deaths due to COVID in the Tri-Cities area. However, an additional 22 deaths were announced from the region due to a backlog within the Department of Health between the dates of July 6 and September 5.

Walla Walla County reports three new COVID-19 deaths

On Thursday, Sept. 16, Walla Walla County’s Department of Community Health officials confirmed three more COVID-19-related deaths of county residents. Officials said they have been notified a man in his 60s, a woman in her 70s and a man in his 80s have died after testing positive for the coronavirus. No more details were released.

The new Amazon facilities will create more than 1.500 full-time jobs in the Tri-City region with an average starting wage of $18 per hour, comprehensive benefits and longer-term career opportunities for local residents.
