City of Omaha decides not to renew Dam Grill and Bar lease

Des Moines shooting suspect acquitted of murder, found guilty of lesser felonies

Wichang Chawech committed several crimes the night Nyamal Deng was killed, a Polk County jury has found. But he did not commit murder, it concluded. Deng, 26, of Omaha, Nebraska, was shot and fatally injured Oct. 10, 2021, in the 500 block of Indianola Road in Des Moines, outside what was then the High Dive bar and lounge. Prosecutors charged Chawech, 34, of Des Moines with first-degree murder, attempted murder, and several other felonies, alleging that he fired a shot at another man during a dispute outside the bar and struck Deng, his cousin, by accident.

(KFOR NEWS October 7, 2022) An inmate who went missing from the Community Corrections Center – Omaha (CCC-O) is in custody at the Douglas County Department of Corrections. Matthew Hurich was arrested by Douglas County Sheriff’s officials on Wednesday, September 28th. He disappeared September 22nd when he left the facility with Clifford Brown, who turned himself into the Omaha Police Department on September 26th.
