Agenda issue delays next round of nonprofit grants from Kendall County

The next round of American Rescue Plan Act grant funds has been delayed for about a week due an issue with a Kendall County Board meeting agenda Tuesday. The county was set to release $900,000 for area nonprofit organizations hurt by the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the plan was derailed because the meeting agenda listed several items that the board was supposed to vote on as the small business grant program and not the nonprofit grant program. The nonprofit grant program is now expected to be approved at a special meeting next week.

National Police Week will give recognition to officers who have lost their lives in the line of duty. In 1962, President John F. Kennedy declared Sunday as National Peace Officers Memorial Day. The officers will be honored for serving their communities according to Kendall County Sheriff Dwight Baird. The community can show support by putting blue lights or blue ribbons outside their homes for National Police Week. National Police Week ends on Saturday.

Four charged with failing to register after compliance checks in Kendall County

Four are being charged with failure to register after compliance checks on sexual and violent offenders last month in Kendall County. The four men being charged include 35-year-old Gerardo Rivas of Aurora, 48-year-old William Moschetti of Oswego, 53-year-old Charles King III of Aurora, and 43-year-old Matthew Jiradina of Peru. Bond was set a $10,000 for all four with ten percent to apply.

Chicago — Attorney General Kwame Raoul announced a Kendall County man was sentenced to 25 years in prison for first degree murder in the death of a Grundy County woman.
