Simms pitches New Hampshire into New England semifinals after beating Vermont

BRISTOL - After spoiling a 13-strikeout performance from their starter on Saturday, the New Hampshire state champions from Concord Little League were able to capitalize on another strong outing by Will Simms on Sunday. Concord’s 2-0 win made Vermont’s representative from Brattleboro Little League the first team eliminated from the Little League East Regional Tournaments.

Maine's combined no-hitter over Vermont pushes it along to New England semifinals

BRISTOL – On most days, pitching into the fifth inning, allowing only five hits and recording 12 strikeouts along the way, including an immaculate inning, would be enough for a win. On Saturday, however, the state champions out of Bangor, Maine received what might end up being the only pitching performance in the bracket better than what Senji Kimura of Brattleboro, Vermont brought to the table in the opening game of the New England Regional Tournament.

Flying Squirrels leave New Hampshire with victory

Manchester, N.H. – After three straight wins over Richmond, New Hampshire gave up seven runs in the top of the first inning on Sunday afternoon at Delta Dental Stadium. The Fisher Cats (16-17, 47-55) lost, 19-1, to the Richmond Flying Squirrels (San Francisco Giants, 11-21, 51-50), and the two teams split the six-game series.

Bangor All-Stars No-Hit Vermont in Northeast Regionals Win 3-0 Saturday

The Bangor 11-12 All-Stars, Maine's representatives in the Northeast Regional Championship beat Brattleboro, Vermont 3-0 Saturday morning, to advance in the Winner's Bracket. Jacoby Harvey and Caden Karam combined to no-hit the Vermont team. Harvey went 5.1 innings, striking out 14 batters while walking just 3. Karam came on in relief, getting the final 2 outs, striking out 2 and walking 2.

Manchester, New Hampshire – The Fisher Cats scored five runs on five hits without a homer in the seventh inning of Saturday night’s game at Delta Dental Stadium, and New Hampshire got their third straight win over Richmond. New Hampshire (16-16, 47-54) defeated the Richmond Flying Squirrels (San Francisco Giants, 10-21, 50-50), 6-1, to move to .500 in the second half of the season for the first time.

MANCHESTER, N.H. – An eighth-inning rally wasn’t enough as the New Hampshire Fisher Cats fell 3-2 to the Richmond Flying Squirrels on Wednesday night. New Hampshire only had four hits on the night, with two coming during the rally. The first was a two-out Trevor Schwecke groundball single that followed up Will Robertson’s walk. Sebastian Espino then reached on a fielding error to load the bases and Rafael Lantigua brought Robertson and Schwecke home on another groundball single.

Pre-season soccer practice at Twin Valley

WHITINGHAM - All students entering grades nine to 12 at Twin Valley Middle High School are invited to pre-season soccer practice on Thursday, August 18, at TVMHS. The boys will practice from 8:30 to 10:30 am; the girls will practice from 9 to 11 am. Students entering grades seven and eight will begin practice on Tuesday, August 30 - the first day of school - immediately after school from 2:45 to 4:30 pm. All players should come prepared to play with shin guards, soccer cleats, shorts, a T-shirt, and plenty of water.
