COVID-19 Transmission Levels | D203 Contract Negotiations | National Night Out

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention say Will County is now experiencing “high” levels of transmission of COVID-19. Data from the group shows the county has had more than 100 new cases of COVID-19 per 100,000 residents over the last seven days recorded. The reported number is 107.13. The Illinois Department of Public Health shows the latest seven-day rolling positivity average for the county at 5.5%. DuPage County is at 4.6% and is classified as having a “substantial” transmission level, with 78.77 new cases per 100,000 residents over the last seven days recorded.

Grundy County Man Pleads Guilty in Opioid Death of Pregnant Woman

(U.S. Attorneys Office for Utah via AP) A Grundy County man pleaded guilty to the drug induced homicide of a 22-year-old pregnant woman from Braidwood. Samantha Kile died after overdosing on fentanyl and heroin back in November of 2018. 27-year-old Colin West of Gardner, Illinois, pleaded guilty in Grundy County Circuit Court to the drug induced homicide of Kile, and unlawful possession of a controlled substance. West was sentenced to eight years in prison.

Six local track and field stars return from USATF Junior Olympics as All-Americans

When president and director of The Vipers Track Club Marques Lowe found out he had 17 student-athletes qualify for the 2021 USATF National Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships in Jacksonville, Fla., last weekend, he had high hopes to return to Kankakee County with 10 athletes reaching All-American status. Luckily for Lowe and the Vipers, his expectations were blown out of the water as he and his club returned home with 21 All-Americans.
