WSP: Motorcyclist dies after crashing into 2 vehicles on SR-14

CLARK COUNTY, Wash. (KPTV) - A motorcyclist died Wednesday evening following a crash involving two other vehicles on State Route 14 in Vancouver. The crash happened at about 5:43 p.m. on SR-14 near 164th Avenue. Washington State Patrol said a Yamaha YZF-R6 was eastbound, driving between two lanes when a Toyota Tacoma switched lanes and was struck by the motorcycle. The motorcycle then struck a Mazda 3, then came to rest on the left shoulder.

16-year-old arrested in Clark County with automatic handgun, ballistic vest

CLARK COUNTY Wash. (KPTV) – A 16-year-old has been arrested after running from the police with an illegal handgun in the Hazel Dell area. Clark County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were conducting a traffic sting on Aug. 10 when one deputy witnessed a sedan with an “equipment violation.” The deputy began pursuit, attempting to pull the sedan over but the driver sped away from the scene.

Body recovered from Cowlitz River identified as 32-year-old Kelso man

COWLITZ COUNTY, Wash. (KPTV) - A body recovered from the Cowlitz River last week has been positively identified, according to the Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office. Jesse Ray Hughes, 32, was listed as a missing person after he attempted to cross the Cowlitz River near the 800 block of Westside Highway on Aug. 3. Hughes went underwater and did not resurface. Rescue crews did not locate Hughes at the time.

Genetic genealogy the next step in identifying Native woman killed in fiery crash

Investigators will use genetic genealogy in hopes of identifying an Indigenous woman who died in a fiery crash in Cowlitz County in 1991. The woman was killed on May 14, 1991, when the southbound semi tractor-trailer she was riding in rear-ended another semi stopped in traffic on Interstate 5 near Kalama. She is known as Helen Doe because Mount St. Helens stands in the distance of where she died.
