More Comic Book Talent Lined Up For Geek’d Con 2022

Shreveport's comic con, Geek'd Con, returns to the Shreveport Convention Center this August. The dates for the show are August 19-21, 2022. There will be over 200 vendor spaces filled with comic book retailers, handmade crafts, shirts, collectibles, trading cards, vintage toys, artwork, and much more. Vendors from all over the US, and right here in Shreveport-Bossier, will be on-hand all weekend for fans to buy, sell, and trade.

Full Details of Shreveport Marshal Charlie Caldwell’s Memorial

Details have been released about the memorial service for Shreveport City Marshal Charlie Caldwell. Caldwell drowned Thursday of last week while on vacation in Florida, after falling from a boat while reaching for his hat that had gone into the water. Caldwell went in the water, but never resurfaced. His body was found the following Saturday by a kayaker, who notified authorities.

Shreveport Escaped Juvenile Captured in Houston Texas

Shreveport teen Anthony Mandigo, who escaped state custody more than two weeks ago, has been found in Houston, Texas, and now faces charges as an adult in that state.. Mandigo, 17, escaped June 13, 2022, while being transported to a medical facility from the Acadiana Center for Youth in Bunkie for treatment for injuries to his hand. He was serving juvenile life for multiple felonies including armed robbery, aggravated flight from an officer, illegal carrying of a weapon, escape, burglary of an inhabited dwelling and illegal possession of stolen things.

Caddo detectives arrested a Shreveport woman for indecent behavior with a juvenile on Tuesday. On Saturday, June 25, CPSO Cyber Crimes Detective Thomas Lites was alerted by the Louisiana Bureau of Investigations about possible pornography using a social media app. Det. Lites investigated and discovered that Katasha Prier, 28, sent nude photos of herself to a teenager under the age of 17.

Shreveport Gas Station Shooting Leaves One Injured

Shreveport Police are currently investigating a shooting call that has left 1 person injured. The call came into dispatch at 12:27 a.m. from the Shell Gas Station, at the corner of West 70th Street and Buncombe Road. When first responders arrived on the scene, they learned that a male victim was suffering from a gunshot wound to his arm. He was transported to Ochsner Health Hospital to be treated for his injuries. His injuries are considered as serious and non life-threatening injuries.

I am a proud citizen of the United States of America. I vote, I go to church, I pay my taxes, and I follow the law of the land for the most part. While I've never served in the military, I feel like I do my part by volunteering and being active in our community. But is that enough? If you're like me, every time I see the news, I'm left feeling sad, mad, and/or basically disgruntled. That begs the question...
