AMERICAN RIVER SALMON Fishing - FIVE SALMON Landed! ORIGIN of the "JU HAMMAH!"

Video Cover
If you have been fishing around the Sacramento, CA, area recently, you may have heard the crazy, frantic scream of the "JU HAMMAH!" What is that all about? On Veterans' Day in 2019, JU, PRO, and FISH WHISPERER experienced an awesome salmon fishing day on the American River. Within four hours, there were SEVEN take-downs and FIVE beautiful chrome salmon landed! That was the day the "JU HAMMAH!" was introduced. Since then, whenever a fish is landed by JU Nation, you can be sure to hear the scream of the "JU HAMMAH! BAM! BAM!" By far, the best video that JU Nation Fishing has captured in its own collection. SURFPERCH FISHING at SUNSET State BEACH | California SP - Part 4 of 4, What's the Verdict?

I should have watched my own videos! A few years ago, I made a fishing video at Sunset State Beach, located in the town of Watsonville, Santa Cruz County, CA. Here's the description from that video: "Hi-Lo rig did not work well! Carolina rig, 1 oz. sinker, 24-inch leader, No. 6 Eagle Claw bait hook, and MOTOR OIL 2-INCH GRUB or BERKLEY GULP! 2-INCH CAMO SANDWORM! Surfperch can't seem to get enough!" That observation is still true on this trip! Another minor missing information would be to soak the Hammer grubs in the Berkley Gulp Sandworm juice. Hopefully, I will remember to look back to this video the next time I visit Sunset State Beach to target surfperch. If you enjoy this video, don't forget to smash the follow and like buttons. Much appreciated.

SURFPERCH FISHING at SUNSET State BEACH | California SP - Part 2 of 4, Enter the STRIKER!

This video is a about our recent camping trip at Sunset State Beach, California State Parks, on Memorial Day weekend. The first day of our camping trip, Friday, May 28, 2021, was shown on YouTube. This episode focuses on the following day, Saturday. We didn't get a chance to fish on Friday due to the weather generating white caps waves. It was also very windy, and made the conditions not very good for fishing. Saturday, the weather was much better. My nephew, the Striker, got to fish in the morning; he landed a perch and released it. We fished together in the evening at incoming tide. Join us in the journey for some fishing and camping fun. AMERICAN RIVER FISHING | Early AM SHAD Bites

I had an opportunity to fish with a local angler this morning chasing down American Shad in the American River. His YouTube Channel is "Two Rivers Fishing CA", at https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCVO0xg_Upwx9CqRXS66ePgQ. We both used different jigs under a bobber float to entice a bite. He used a pink trout magnet and I used Tay's Pro Tackle. We vary the depths between our bobbers and the jigs to find the locations that might get a shad bite. We both had multiple hookups and ended up with five shad total before 8 AM. It was a super fun early morning fishing session right here in our local river going right through the heart of the Sacramento Metropolitan area. What an amazing blessing. SACRAMENTO RIVER FISHING | American SHAD FEEDING FRENZY at Miller Park

The exciting things about fishing for the American Shad when they return to the Sacramento River from the ocean are that there many ways to catch them all. On this trip I am fishing from a boat with "da Captain." Previously, I introduced a setup for catching shad from a boat called the "Jakey Shad Smacker." On this trip I was given some shad jig heads from Tay's Pro Tackle to tryout. See, this is what I mean by fishing for shad is so much fun; I am using totally new jigs to target them. The jigs are made locally and can be acquired by contacting Tay Gaines via Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/tay.gaines.98 or text him at 916-720-8482. AMERICAN SHAD in AMERICAN RIVER - On FIRE... NOT!

Every year the American Shad return from the ocean to our local rivers here in Northern California to spawn. They go through the Sacramento River first; then they enter other rivers such as the American River. I have been successful catching shad in the Sacramento River from a boat. Now, it's time to investigate the shad run from shore in the American River. They have definitely arrived in numbers at some spots. Can you catch 'em all? AMERICAN SHAD FISHING ON FIRE Evening Bites at MILLER PARK! Sacramento River

On this fishing trip, I am teaming up with TWO YouTube Sensations, ItGetsReel and Connected Fishing. We were in search of #AmericanShad in the #SacramentoRiver. I used my regular #shad rigs aka The Jackey Shad Smacker! I showed what beads to use to make this successful shad smacking rig. In the AM, the bites were very slow. However, when the tide changed in the evening around 6 PM, we could not keep the fish off our hooks. It was a crazy kinda fishing day. If you enjoy this video, please follow and like. I truly appreciate it. Music: #17 Vendredi - It's Friday (feat. Phat Cat)

SACRAMENTO RIVER FISHING | More American SHAD Action at FREEPORT

American Shad are super fun to catch! They are in the Sacramento River! But this does not mean that they are easy to catch. In this episode, I am with Captain Kirk Westervelt of YouTube fame. He was very generous in taking me on his North River 22-foot boat! We fished the outgoing tide between 8 AM until 4 PM. There were more than a hundred fish caught during that time frame. Unfortunately, we were not in that category this time. However, it is a tremendous blessing to be along side someone who enjoys fishing as much as I do. Sturgeon Fishing in Suisun Slough - Braved 20 MPH Wind to get a Keeper!

There are many ways to catch a keeper white sturgeon in Suisun Slough, CA. There are many baits that have been known to entice a white sturgeon to bite; however, we prefer using grass shrimp when targeting white sturgeon at this location. There were no grass shrimp nearby. Thus, we traveled an hour out of the way to get grass shrimp all the way in Pittsburg, CA. The weather forecast called for windy conditions up to 20 MPH wind! We braved the bad weather; and we were rewarded with a keeper!

American Shad Fishing in the Sacramento River from a Boat - Simple Setup

Every year around late March / early April American shad enter the river systems through Sacramento, CA, on the journey to their spawning grounds. Unlike the salmon, which die after spawning, shad can make their trips back to the ocean around late July / early August to live and return again to repeat the cycle until they are captured and / or died in the process. In this video I am sharing the shad setup that I use for catching shad from a boat in the Sacramento River. This is part 1 of 4.
