Man rescued from burning church in Johnson County

JOHNSON COUNTY, Ga. (WGXA) - A church on the Laurens and Johnson County line caught fire Friday morning, and crews rescued a man who was inside as the fire was happening. Flames erupted from the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church along Highway 319 Friday. Fire Chief Shawn Wombales says fire crews started fighting the blaze around 9:52 a.m.

JOHNSON COUNTY, Ga. -- The GBI’s Child Exploitation and Computer Crimes Unit, along with the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at a Wrightsville man's home on Tuesday, following a tip from the National Center for Missing And Exploited Children. The tip suggested that evidence of possession and/or distribution of explicit materials involving children could be found in the home. As a result of the search, 30 year old Jake Robert Scott was charged with two felony counts of possession of child pornography.
