Jennings County High School graduate Sydney Carson’s name was recently in the Plain Dealer & Sun among a list of fellow graduating seniors who had earned the Governor’s Work Ethic Certificate, which was sponsored this year by Montrow Group in collaboration with the Jennings County Economic Development Commission (EDC). Meeting our newest JCSO Deputy: Max Marcoux

On June 4th, the newest member of the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office was sworn in by Sheriff Kenny Freeman. Max Marcoux is officially the newest deputy that will be working to keep our county safe. Marcoux is the youngest of four children in his family, and was born and raised in Jennings County. After graduating as a member of the JCHS Class of 2015, Marcoux took his talents to Eureka College in Illinois to play baseball and pursue a degree in criminal justice. After two and a half years and an injury that ended his baseball career, Marcoux transferred closer to home, where he obtained the rest of his criminal justice degree at Franklin College. “I’ve wanted to be in law enforcement since I was about eight years old,” Marcoux noted. Max says the biggest thing that he is looking forward to in the new job is “getting out on the road and having those day to day interactions with people.”

JC Places 6th in Golf Sectional

On Monday, June 7, the Jennings County High School boy’s golf team traveled south on Highway 7 to Madison’s Sunrise Golf Course to compete in IHSAA Sectional 28. The Panthers were up against nine other schools, including Austin, Henryville, Scottsburg, Southwestern, Switzerland County, Shawe Memorial, Charlestown, Rising Sun, and Hoosier Hills Conference rival Madison. When the final ball dropped into the cup for the day, the Panthers found themselves in sixth overall, just 23 total strokes short of advancing to regional competition.
