Boil water notice for Boligee

A boil water notice is in place for the Town of Boligee. According to a release from the city, this is due to low and inconsistent water pressure. The boil water notice only affects the Town of Boligee and people connected to the Eutaw Water System in that area. It is not system wide and does not affect the City of Eutaw.

Perry County jury returns $1.4M verdict for injuries received in 2017 traffic accident

A Perry County jury returned a $1.375 million verdict for two men injured in a 2017 car accident on Highway 80. Attorneys representing Eddie Harris and DeAndre Langhorne said the two were rear ended in a work truck in Uniontown while stopped on U.S. Highway 80 to make a left-hand turn on June 8, 2017. Harris had neck surgery to repair two herniated discs. He was scheduled for a second surgery at the time of trial. Langhorne suffered injuries to his neck and back and had sought treatment for both.

Spirited assembly starts DCS school year

Students in Demopolis City Schools may return to classes Monday, but teachers have been preparing for the first day of school. That was never more evident than the assembly of all DCS employees Wednesday in the Demopolis High School auditorium. A Linden man is behind bars tonight — on charges that include murder — and tampering with evidence. Police say the murder is the first in the city — in about ten years. Tuscahoma Public Boat Ramp in Choctaw County Temporarily Closes for Repairs

Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. Tuscahoma Public Boat Ramp on the Tombigbee River near Butler, Alabama, will close for repairs on Monday, August 8, 2022. During the closure, improvements will be made to the parking lot, including the installation of water drainage structures. The entrance road to the facility will also be repaved.

Demopolis City Schools see academic improvement across district

At the July 18 Demopolis Board of Education meeting, Superintendent Tony Willis reported on DCS academics and was proud of the improvements he saw within the system. He said that the majority of the system’s teachers took part in professional development over the summer. Teachers were training for AMSTI, ACT, and general practice in preparation for the 2022-2023 school year.

YORK, Ala. (WTOK) - The second annual Jazmine Mitchell camp kicked off at Sumter Central on Saturday. The Jaz Camp is a free basketball camp that is free for ages 5-18. University of Alabama Opens 6th Regional Primary Health Care Clinic

The University of Alabama opened a new primary health care clinic in Sumter County Thursday, the sixth location for its University Medical Center in West Alabama. In a Thursday news release, Dr. Richard Friend said the UMC is the largest multispecialty medical practice in the region and treats more than 150,000 patients annually at their locations in Tuscaloosa, Northport, Demopolis, Fayette, Carrollton and now Livingston, Alabama.
