Five arrested in drug investigation in Rockford

Detectives with the Rockford Narcotics Unit obtained search warrants for 1312 19th Street and 1606 19th Street. Once inside, they recovered cocaine, ecstasy, psilocybin mushrooms, a large amount of cannabis, various cannabis products, a large amount of money, ammunition and 43 firearms.

Police seek suspect in two Beloit shootings

BELOIT, Wis. (WTVO) — Beloit Police are searching for the suspect in connection with two shootings in the city on Friday and Saturday. On Friday, around 11 p.m., police say a victim was standing on his porch in the 1300 block of Nelson when he saw the suspect on a bicycle across the street, in the city garden. The victim reported hearing between four and seven gunshots, one of which struck him in the hand, before running into his house.

Winnebago Co. COVID-19 positivity rate jumps to 6.0%

WINNEBAGO COUNTY, Ill. (WIFR) - The Winnebago County Health Department reported the latest numbers on COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations from the past week on Wednesday. There were 239 new COVID-19 cases from July 22 to July 28, making the cumulative total 32,814 and the 7-day rolling positivity rate 6.0 percent. There have been 246,774 total administered COVID-19 vaccine doses in the county.

Bird electric scooters are coming to Beloit

BELOIT, Wis. (WMTV) - Electric scooters will be rolling into Beloit this week, the city announced Wednesday. The City of Beloit stated that its City Council approved an ordinance to allow the use of e-scooters in June. Bird scooters will be available in Beloit starting Friday and users will need to download the app.

Players from Monona Grove and McFarland named to All-State Team

Soccer players from McFarland High School and Monona Grove High School were named to the Wisconsin Soccer Coaches Association All-State Team on Tuesday, July 27. Monona Grove's lone recipient was freshman Isabelle Dehner, who was selected as an honorable mention. Dehner played in all 13 games for Monona Grove, helping shut down opposing offenses, but also scored three goals and recorded two assists.

Construction planned for US 14, WIS 92 to start Aug. 2 east of Brooklyn

A $4.07 million reconstruction project involving the U.S. Highway 14 and Interstate 92 intersection just east of the Village of Brooklyn is set to commence Aug. 2. The work will include turning the intersection into a multi-lane roundabout, according to a news release from the state Department of Transportation. And this autumn, crews will construct temporary pavement for traffic staging during the 2022 construction season.
