There will be more Texas Dept. of Public Safety troopers out on the roadways during the next week because of the holiday season. Texas DPS Director Steven McCraw said the increased patrols began Dec. 23, and they want to remind people to “celebrate the holiday season responsibly by practicing safe driving habits and obeying all traffic laws.”

Kerr County is working alongside Kerrville Pets Alive! in hopes of enhancing the operation of Kerr County Animal Services to help save and improve the lives of dogs and cats. Kerrville Pets Alive! was established last year in answer to a call by Kerr County Commissioner’s Court in forming a nonprofit to assist with funding, educational endeavors, pet adoptions and publicity for Kerr County Animal Services.

The City of Kerrville, Kerr County, and local leadership partners will be hosting a COVID-19 Community Update at 4 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 17. If your driver’s license or state ID card is expired, the Texas Dept. of Public Safety wants you to make an appointment to get them renewed as soon as you can. The temporary waiver on expiration dates due to the COVID-19 pandemic granted by Gov. Abbott ends April 14, so anyone with an expired driver’s license, commercial driver’s license, commercial learner’s permit, state ID card or election ID certificate, won’t be protected after that date.
