One killed in head-on crash in Ross County

ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — One person was killed Wednesday during a head-on crash in Chillicothe. It happened early in the morning along Veterans Parkway. Troopers confirmed to the Guardian that a gold Cadillac went left of center and hit a black pickup truck. The driver of the Cadillac, Jayson D. Gordon, 41, Chillicothe, died at the scene, according to law enforcement.

Agents raid home of Chillicothe councilman, youth pastor, and teacher

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio — Agents raided the home of a Chillicothe teacher, youth pastor, and city council member on Wednesday morning. It happened at 71 Limestone Blvd., when agents from the Ohio Attorney General’s office descended on the home of Greg Phillips. Phillips, 47, is a school teacher at Chillicothe City Schools. He also represents the city’s first ward as a republican city council member and is a local youth pastor at a church in Kingston.

Manhunt along route 35 after man jumps from moving car

ROSS COUNTY, Ohio — A small manhunt was underway Tuesday afternoon after a man jumped from a moving car. It happened just outside Chillicothe along route 35 near Adena Road. It was there, deputies tried pulling over a car, when a shirtless man jumped out the window and took off running into the nearby shrubbery.

Makayla Davidson, 11, along with her steer named “Bucko,” appeared in the Joe Morgan Memorial Livestock Arena on Wednesday, July 21. She competed in a few different show and showmanship contests as well.

The pet of the week this week is Bebe. One of the many dogs that have filled the Scioto County Dog Shelter up to capacity. Who says bald isn’t beautiful? Miss Bebe is finally getting her fur back. I believe I see some popping out on her back end. This girl gets a bath twice a week in medicated shampoo. She came in with a bacteria infection on her skin. Her whole tiny body looked like stone.

WELLSTON — A young 4-H’er brought a pair of goats named Peach and Cream to the fair this year to show for her first time. McKenzie Bennett, 9, along with her two goats appeared in the show arena on Tuesday, July 20. It is unknown how Bennett did her first year showing because no results were available by press time.
