Singers, musicians, comedians and entertainers of every age are encouraged to put their talents before a live audience by taking part in the annual talent contest at the Isanti County Fair on Sunday, July 24. Prizes will awarded to the top three contestants in each category. All first-place winners at the county fair level advance to the Minnesota State Fair County Fair Talent Contest at the Minnesota State Fair, which runs Aug. 25 through Labor Day, Sept. 5, 2022. Some of you may know my wife, Jayne, and I, as your neighbor of nearly 40 years. Others may know me as your financial advisor, with a small business right on Main Street Cambridge. Or, maybe you know me as a parishioner at Christ the King, as a member of the Sportsman’s Club, or as your Representative on the board of East Central Energy.

I am Bob Shogren, and I am pleased to announce my candidacy for another term on the Cambridge City Council. I am married to Shannon, and we have four adult children and four grandchildren. I am employed by the Isanti County Sheriff’s Office as the 9-1-1 Coordinator/Telecommunicator. In addition to serving on council for 17 years, I am an elder in the Presbyterian Church of America, Clerk of the Siouxlands Presbytery, and president of the Cambridge Economic Development Authority. In recent years, I have served on the Isanti County Park Board, the Cambridge Planning Commission, and the Cambridge-Isanti Community Education Commission. I am excited to have been part of a team that brought many new businesses and amenities to our community. Under city council leadership, taxes in Cambridge have been kept in check over the years. Our tax rate has been declining steadily from the top to the middle of the charts and falling.

My name is Clark Johnson. I have lived in Isanti County my entire life with the exception of four years. I attended the University of Minnesota for almost three years. After marrying my wife Lynn in 1975, I attended Bethel University and graduated with a Bachelors in Organizational Studies. We were married for 12 years, until Lynn passed away from cancer in 1987 at the age of 37, and I became a single parent.

Please let me introduce myself, my name is Michael Longbehn. I am a longtime resident of Isanti County. I have a rich history of public service. I started out as a volunteer reserve officer with the St. Paul Police in 1978. I quickly fell in love with public service and went back to school to get my law enforcement degree. Then in 1988 I was sworn in as a full time Deputy Sheriff with Anoka County. After leaving Anoka County I kept my full-time peace officers license active and continue to serve as a police officer in two jurisdictions. In those 44 years I have been a police supervisor, served for three years on The FBI Fugitive Task Force, been sworn as a Deputy US Marshal, and attended training at The FBI headquarters in Quantico, Va.
