Isanti to add performance center to Bluebird Park

Uses for Bluebird Park in the City of Isanti will be expanding with the addition of a performance center, which was approved by Isanti City Council in a split vote at its June 1 meeting. Council members Jimmy Gordon and Paul Bergley opposed the project; Mayor Jeff Johnson and council members Steve Lundeen and Dan Collison voted in favor of the project.

The following felony charges were filed in Isanti County Court on May 31 - June 4. All individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty. Jamie Ann Wade (DOB 07/22/1975) of Cambridge, was charged June 1 with drugs - 1st degree - sale - 17 grams or more - cocaine or meth w/in 90-day period.

Cambridge woman killed in crash

A Cambridge woman was killed in a crash on Highway 65, in Isanti Township, on June 4, at 6:07 p.m. According to the Minnesota State Patrol, a freightliner semi, driven by Aklilu Alem Gebremichael, 32, of Dallas, was crossing the northbound lanes of Highway 65 at 278th Lane Northeast, when a 2000 Buick Lesabre, driven by Bianca Mae Rogalski, 25, of Cambridge, traveling northbound on Highway 65, struck toward the rear of the freightliner on the driver’s side. Rogalski was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Isanti residents voice a need for an additional outlot road due to growth of residential development

Isanti residents filled Isanti City Hall on June 1 to request another road outlot be installed within their residential development that will soon be significantly expanded. During the Isanti City Council meeting June 1, Community Development Director Sheila Sellman explained that developer Anthony Hanson has submitted the preliminary and final plat approvals for Fairway Greens South. Fairway Greens South development is located along Eighth Avenue Northeast and Wendover Street Northeast, just to the west of Evergreen Apartments and on the north side of County Road 5.

Cambridge woman dies in crash with semi on Hwy. 65 in Isanti County

A 25-year-old Cambridge woman was killed Friday evening after her car collided with a semitrailer truck in Isanti County. The truck, driven by Aklilu Alem Gebremichael, 32, of Dallas, was crossing the northbound lanes of Hwy. 65 at NE. 285th Lane at 6:07 p.m. Friday when the car driven by Bianca Mae Rogalski, also northbound, collided with the truck toward the rear on the driver’s side, the patrol said.

2 women die in crashes in St. Louis Park, Isanti County

Two people died Friday and early Saturday in crashes on Minnesota roads. Kathryn Greer Raw, 38, of Minneapolis, died just before noon Saturday in a crash in St. Louis Park. She was driving east on Hwy. 7 near Hwy. 100 when her Chevrolet Silverado pickup left the roadway and struck a pole, the State Patrol said.

Harris woman pleads not guilty to charges relating to fatal June 2019 crash

A Harris woman has pleaded not guilty to charges she allegedly contributed to the death of a Cambridge woman in a June 2019 crash. Jackie Lynn Pedersen, 39, of Harris, made her first appearance in Isanti County District Court in Cambridge on Oct. 23, 2020, on charges of gross misdemeanor reckless driving and misdemeanor careless driving. On May 26, 2021, an omnibus hearing was held where Pedersen entered not guilty pleas to both charges. A settlement conference is scheduled for July 21; if a settlement isn’t reached, a jury trial is scheduled to begin Aug. 2.

Community Calendar

Starting in June, every Monday from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m., Isanti County Public Health will provide COVID-19 vaccines at the Isanti County Government Center (555 18th Ave. SW, Cambridge) to those 12 and older. Those 12-17 can receive the Pfizer vaccine, and those 18 and older can receive the Pfizer, Moderna, or Johnson & Johnson/Janssen vaccines. Participants will have the option of the Pfizer, Moderna, or Johnson & Johnson/Janssen vaccine. Registration is encouraged, but walk-ins will be accepted.Anyone ages 12-17 must have a parent/guardian present in order to receive the vaccine. You do not need insurance to receive a COVID-19 vaccine, and you will not be charged for the COVID-19 vaccine. To register for a COVID-19 vaccine at the Isanti County Government Center, visit:
