The City of Irvine, in partnership with the Irvine 2/11 Marine Adoption Committee, is hosting its inaugural Fourth of July Field of Valor event July 1–10, 8 a.m.–10 p.m., at the Great Park Reflecting Ponds. Members of the community are invited to honor veterans, active duty, or fallen service members by either sponsoring a flag or visiting the flag display.

City of Irvine names Jaimee Bourgeois as Director of Public Works & Transportation

After a national recruitment, seasoned City of Irvine engineer Jaimee Bourgeois has been named Director of Public Works & Transportation for the City of Irvine. Bourgeois has served as Irvine’s Interim Director of Public Works & Transportation since March of this year. Before this, she served as Deputy Director of Transportation for the City starting in December 2019, Interim Director of Transportation from June 2019 to December 2019, and as City Traffic Engineer beginning in November 2016. The City of Irvine annual summer tradition returns July 9, when the Sizzlin’ Summer Concert series kicks off at Mike Ward Community Park — Woodbridge. The community is invited to a series of free family-friendly concerts in the park covering a variety of musical tastes — from country rock and dance hits to classic soul and ’80s music. In addition to Saturday concerts, enjoy a Sunday series finale featuring Pacific Symphony. Bring a picnic basket or purchase treats from on-site gourmet food trucks.

Great Park Gallery Art Exhibition Expands with Musical Performances and Additional Installation in Artist Studios

Building on the recently opened Great Park Gallery art exhibition Phillip K. Smith III: Shared Light, the City of Irvine announces an expanded experience with music and art installations. The two-part live classical music series will happen June 25 and July 23, and the expanded exhibition is open now in the Artist Studios. The exhibition, live performances, and parking are free and open to the public.

City Supports HomeAid Diaper Drive That Serves Over 1,000 Homeless Babies

The City of Irvine is proud to support HomeAid Orange County’s goal of collecting 1 million essential items for babies and toddlers through the organizations’ annual Diaper Drive. Now through June 9, members of the community are invited to participate by donating new, unopened packages of diapers, baby wipes, and baby food (no glass containers please) to support families with toddlers and babies experiencing homelessness.

UCI Health and the City of Irvine are partnering for a series of blood drives which will be held at Great Park monthly through September. A blood supply crisis is posing a concerning risk to patient care both locally and nationally. To address the great need for blood donations in Orange County, UCI Health Blood Drives will take place by appointment only from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Great Park Parking Lot 2 on the following dates:
