Vehicle crashes into yard after Iowa State Patrol pursuit late Saturday

Iowa State Patrol chased a vehicle that eventually crashed into the yard of a home in the area of 9th and Division streets shortly before 10:30 p.m. Saturday. It side-swiped other vehicles during the pursuit by Iowa State Patrol, which tried to stop it because of traffic offenses, Davenport Police said.

Man gets life sentence for killing his girlfriend in eastern Iowa

MUSCATINE, Iowa (AP) — A 24-year-old Muscatine man has been sentenced to life in prison without parole for the shooting death of his girlfriend. During sentencing on Friday, David J.S. Hatfield also was ordered to pay $150,000 in restitution to the estate of 18-year-old Kaitlyn Palmer. Hatfield was convicted of first-degree murder in June. KWQC reports an arrest affidavit says Hatfield called police on Oct. 16, 2019, and said Palmer had tried to commit suicide by shooting herself at the Saulsbury Recreation Center.

Missing teens, one from Iowa, have been found safe

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) - The two teens that had been reported missing, from Cumberland Gap National Historical Park and eastern Tennessee, have been found. The two were last seen on Monday in the Wilderness Road Campground in Cumberland Gap National Historical Park. Now days later, the two are soon to be returned to their families.

Thousands of patients exposed after phishing attack on Iowa hospital

Corydon, Iowa-based Wayne County Hospital began notifying 2,016 patients that their data may have been exposed after hackers launched a phishing attack on its employee emails. On March 22, the hospital learned it was the victim of a phishing attack. The hospital took steps to secure its network and launched an investigation with a third-party cybersecurity firm, according to a news release.

Arrest made in 2018 Iowa bank robbery

MAXWELL, Iowa — An arrest has been made in anIowa bank robbery that happened in 2018. Brian Brutus, 35, faces several charges, including first-degree robbery and four counts of felony assault. The Story County Sheriff's Office says Brutus and another man robbed the Maxwell State Bank in April of 2018.

Northwest Iowa man arrested after allegedly using counterfeit money at IC live music club

A northwest Iowa man faces charges that he tried to use counterfeit money at a downtown Iowa City live music club. Iowa City Police received a report of a man passing counterfeit currency at El Ray’s Live and Dive on Iowa Avenue just before 12:15 Saturday morning. Bar staff gave investigators a fake $100 bill and a driver’s license belonging to 19-year-old Mason Harms of Estherville. They also pointed out Harms as he was walking away, heading towards Joe’s Place. Police say the bill was an obvious fake.

Arrest made for death of northwest Iowa woman

LAKE PARK, Iowa (AP) — A 23-year-old man has been charged with the death of a Lake Park woman in December. Justice Bernston is charged with first-degree murder in the death of 25-year-old Angel Bastman. He was arrested Thursday at the Fort Dodge Correctional Facility. His bond is set at $1 million. Twenty-six-year-old Allison Decker was charged earlier this week with first-degree murder in Bastman's death.
