Iowa City Community School District to hold special meeting today

The Iowa City Community School District is holding a special meeting today to discuss protocols dealing with health and safety ahead of the first day of school. The Press Citizen reports that families were due to receive information on the protocols a week from today, but due to parents calling for information, the meeting was called for 6:30pm today.

Iowa City students must wear masks on school buses, not required in class

IOWA CITY — Iowa City students will be required to wear masks on school buses this fall, in accordance with federal law, but cannot be required to wear masks in classrooms. As the Delta variant of COVID-19 surges in Iowa, the Iowa City Community School District also is extending its registration deadline for its new online learning program. Families will have through Aug. 9 to register their child for the 100-percent virtual academy.
