Toyota Indiana pauses production due to supply issues

PRINCETON, Ind. (WFIE) - Toyota in Gibson County is halting production, starting Friday. In a statement sent to 14 News, Toyota officials confirmed the pause comes as the company is facing supply chains issues brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic. As of now, Toyota doesn’t anticipate any impact to employment.

Honda Begins Production Of Civic Hatchback In The US

The Honda Civic Hatchback is one of the most popular cars in the world, and over 20 million of these cars have been sold globally over the past five decades. The new Civic Hatchback was finally revealed in June of 2021, and promises to dial up the fun, but more importantly, it will be the first time in this little car's history that it will be produced in America. Honda has invested over $50 million at the Indiana Auto Plant based in Greensburg to start mass production of the all-new 2022 Civic Hatchback. This investment includes a new building designed specifically for laser braze technology, and an increase in the use of structural adhesives for improved body rigidity.

VW Committee approves $12 million in funding to reduce diesel emissions across Indiana

INDIANAPOLIS – The Indiana Volkswagen Mitigation Trust Fund Committee (Committee) recently awarded $12 million to 29 projects around the state that will reduce diesel emissions in local communities. The Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) received 31 quality applications totaling $23.4 million for the $12 million allocated in this latest round of funding.

Indiana And Michigan To Pilot Wireless EV Charging Roads

Indiana and Michigan have announced separate plans to pilot test wireless EV charging roads in the near future. Speaking at the Motor Bella outdoor auto show in Michigan this week, Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer laid out plans for a new Inductive Vehicle Charging Pilot program. The program will convert a one-mile stretch of highway in Wayne, Oakland or Macomb counties into a road capable of charging an EV’s battery as it drives. According to The Detroit Free Press, it’s currently unclear how the technology will work, how much the pilot program will cost and when Michigan residents can expect it to become operational.
