Speed bumps temporarily removed from Main Street

Body The recently installed speed bumps on Main Street in Fort Stockton were removed today in preparation for the Big Bend Open Road Race 2.0 Parade. "With the Big Bend Open Road drivers and their cars being really low to the ground, I was asked to remove those and put them back when the parade was over," Fort Stockton City Manager Frank Rodriguez said.

Fort Stockton cross country competes in Big Spring

The Fort Stockton High School cross country team competed Saturday at the Big Spring Invitational, with several runners recording strong performances. In Division 1 high school boys, Juan Vela finished second with a time of 18 minutes 2 seconds, while Jesus Hernandez ran18:44 for seventh place.. Aryan Hernandez was 17th in 19:56 and Diego Ronquillo was 19th in 20:07 as the team placed second to Andrews.

Crane adds welding and cosmetology classes

CRANE Through a partnership with Odessa College, welding and cosmetology have returned to Crane ISD after long absences. Twenty-nine students signed up for welding this semester, and 11 enrolled in cosmetology. Welding had not been offered since 2011-2012 and cosmetology had not been available since the 2014-‘15 school year.

Man indicted on intoxication manslaughter charge

A former Monahans resident has been indicted on an intoxication manslaughter charge in the January death of a 28-year-old Denton man. Raul Villanueva, 36, was driving east in the westbound lanes of Interstate 20 when he struck a vehicle being driven by Arnoldo De Las Rosa head-on about 15 miles east of Monahans shortly before 3 a.m., according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
