Iona — An Iona man is facing sexual abuse charges after allegedly showering with a teenager. Bonneville County Sheriff’s detectives were called to a local hospital in March after Brian Packer, 53, disclosed to staff he had been accused of taking a shower with a 14-year-old girl, according to an affidavit of probable cause obtained by EastIdahoNews.com. Packer is now charged with felony sex abuse of a child under 16.

Deputy reportedly catches man assaulting woman near landfill

IDAHO FALLS — A deputy reportedly caught a Firth man attacking a woman alongside a Bonneville County road Monday afternoon. Bonneville County Sheriff’s dispatchers got a 911 call around 4:30 p.m. about a possible domestic disturbance near the Bonneville County Landfill east of Idaho Falls. The caller reported they had dropped off a hitchhiker along the road where a visibly agitated man was waiting in a pickup truck.

Idaho Falls woman in critical condition after house fire

An Idaho Falls woman was taken to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center in critical condition after she was caught in a house fire early Thursday morning. According to a news release, the Idaho Falls Fire Department and Idaho Falls Police Department responded around 2:45 a.m. to the fire. Two men who were also in the house were able to escape and call 911 to report the fired and that the woman was trapped inside.

Man sentenced for exposing himself at the DMV

REXBURG — A Rexburg man has been sentenced for exposing himself at the Madison County Department of Motor Vehicles in December. Jake Sperl, 36, was ordered to serve 23 days at the Madison County Jail, followed by four years of probation. Sperl has already spent the last 187 days at the jail because he did not post bail following his arrest in December. During his incarceration, he pleaded guilty to felony indecent exposure as part of a plea agreement with prosecutors.

East Idaho man who stalked, beat woman sentenced to prison

An Idaho Falls man who stalked his ex and attacked her was sentenced to prison Monday. District Judge Joel Tingey ordered Jared Keating, 36, to serve two-to-five years in prison for first-degree stalking and four to 10 years for felony domestic battery. Several other felony charges, including one for second-degree kidnapping and one for video voyeurism, were dismissed as part of a plea agreement.
