Bitter cold, rain and snow forecast for southern Utah

The weather is about to get a lot more winterlike in southwestern Utah, with bitterly cold temperatures midweek giving way to rain and snow by the weekend. Cold, snowy air from the northwest started making its way into Utah on Monday, threatening snowfall in the mountains around Salt Lake City and other northern cities. The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for the region, indicating the cold front could bring 1 to 2 inches of snow to some places, while ushering in unseasonably cold temperatures through most of the week.

Authorities Investigate Death in Zion NP

(Springdale, UT) -- The National Park Service, along with other agencies, is investigating after a 31-year-old woman was discovered dead near the Virgin River along the Narrows section of the park. This happened on Wednesday, November 23rd when visitors alerted park shuttle drivers that there was an injured man and a non-responsive woman in that area. Search and rescue was called. They quickly found the man and transported him to the Zion Emergency Operations Center. The team discovered the woman dead a short distance away.

HURRICANE, Utah — Police are looking for 3-year-old Legend Giles after his non-custodial parents refused to return him to his biological parents Thursday. According to a Utah Department of Public Safety alert, Steven and Wacey Giles failed to meet with Giles’s biological mother on Monday. Authorities say they tried to contact the two suspects but have been unsuccessful.

Man Arrested After Chase, Police Vehicle Rammed

A man is facing several charges after allegedly ramming his vehicle into a police cruiser several times while fleeing the scene of a family fight in St. George. Police say they responded to a townhome complex on reports of a fight late Saturday night to find Austin Sharette, who was wanted on a warrant for violation of a protective order and outstanding domestic violence charges. Police say Sharette tried to flee in a vehicle and ended up crashing into a patrol car multiple times before abandoning the car and running off on foot. Police searched for Sharette for three hours before eventually finding him less than a mile from the home and arresting him following a short foot chase.
