High School Football Mid-Season Report

MADISON- The 2021 high school football regular season is halfway completed and many ask ‘where did the time go’?. The four local teams have combined for a very respectable 14-5 with only Bob Jones having played just four games of its 10-game schedule and are 2-2 overall and 2-1 in Class 7A Region 4. Completing five games on the 10-outing lineup are James Clemens 5-0, 3-0, Sparkman 3-2, 3-0, both of which are in Class 7A Region 4 with Bob Jones, and Madison Academy 4-1, 3-0 as the Mustangs play in Class 4A Region 7.

Horizon sustains Lighthouse School of Distinction status with Leader in Me

MADISON – Teachers at Horizon Elementary School found their latest honor to be a ‘sweet’ deal. As a welcomed reward, Horizon’s faculty enjoyed treats from Crumbl Cookies, thanks to the administration and Madison City Schools staff. Sparkman volleyball wins on senior night 3-2

The Sparkman volleyball team which leads the 7A Area 8 with a 26-6 record defeated Grissom Tuesday night 3-2. The Senators are ranked 4th in the state of Alabama with just 10 games left in the regular season. The Grissom Tigers entered the night ranked 11th in 7A for their 19-11 record.

Nichols reverses mask requirement for Madison schools, placing mandate in school board’s hands

MADISON – Madison City Schools Superintendent Dr. Ed Nichols reversed himself tonight on a decision he made last week about mandating masks in the city schools. On Friday, Dr. Nichols sent an email to parents letting them know that he was switching the school district a “mask preferred” status rather than keeping the mandate in place. The “Mask Preferred” status encourages masks in schools and other buildings but does not make it a requirement. Masking is still be required on all bus transportation.
