Wednesday Afternoon News, October 27th

(Le Mars) — Le Mars Fire and Rescue responded to a call at 315 7th Avenue Southwest on Wednesday afternoon. The call came in at about 3:40 p.m. When firefighters arrived at the scene, smoke had filled the basement of the home and was beginning to permeate to the upper level. It was discovered the cause for the smoke was a sump pump that had overheated. Firefighters were able to remove the sump pump and ventilated the home. Firefighters were on the scene for approximately 20 minutes. Damage was minor, and there were no injuries.
