Paris Police Report For Friday (Sep 17)

Thursday, Paris Police Officers responded to a call of a stolen purse from the 3500-block of NE Loop 286. The individual took it from a customer who was dining at the business. The complainant alerted police to the thief from a GPS tracking device, and officers made contact with Sybrena Diane Hill at 2300 N. Main. After searching Hill’s vehicle, officers found the purse and its contents, placed Hill under arrest, and charged her with Theft of Property with two or more Prior Convictions and Fraud Use/Poss of Identifying Info. Additionally, they took Hill to jail.

After searching the vehicle Hill was located inside of, the purse and contents were found. Hill was placed under arrest and charged with Theft of Property 2 or more Prior Convictions, and Fraud Use/Poss of Identifying Info. Hill was taken to jail.

Man Dead After Confrontation With Lamar County Deputy

After a 9-1-1 call, Lamar County Deputies found the subject who had left home in a vehicle, intoxicated and armed with a gun. He was at a storage facility on US 271 N., and the person pointed a gun at the officers, causing a deputy to fire. The individual then reportedly shot himself and died. Police have not released any names in the cause, and the Texas Rangers are investigating.

One Dead In Lamar County Deputy Involved Shooting

On Friday, September 10, 2021, Lamar County Sheriff Deputies worked a disturbance at a residence on Stillhouse Road. The caller told dispatch that a subject had left home in a vehicle, was intoxicated, and was armed with a firearm. Deputies located the individual at a storage facility on US 271 N. While attempting to communicate with the subject, a deputy fired at the individual after pointing a handgun at one of the deputies. The individual then sustained a self-inflicted gunshot wound. The person was treated at the scene but died from his injury.
