Homeless man charged in unprovoked NYC attack on 3 pre-teens: cops

A homeless man accused of attacking three pre-teen girls in Greenwich Village this week has been charged in connection to the unprovoked assault, authorities said. Rodney Perry, 34, pushed and punched the trio – two 12-year-olds and one 11-year-old – at the corner of Washington Street and Perry Street just after 5 p.m. Tuesday, cops said.  He fled after the attack, but was busted by officers on foot several blocks away, according to the NYPD. Perry – whose last known address is in the New Lots section of Brooklyn – was charged with assault, resisting arrest and acting in a manner injurious to a child under 17, authorities said.  The mother of one of the girls was walking with them when they were randomly attacked, cops said.  All three were treated for minor injuries on the scene, police sources said. Perry has four prior unsealed arrests – including an assault bust from 2011, according to police.  He has numerous sealed arrests from 2010 and 2011, sources said.

Land of the Towering White Pines

About 30 years ago I built a 16’x20’ shed to store my canoes, the riding lawnmower, my chainsaws and assorted wood scraps. There was a cute 8 foot white pine near the site that I left because it looked pretty. That “cute little white pine” has grown; it towered into the sky and its increasing diameter reached and pushed against the roof of my shed such that as that white pine swayed in the wind, causing my shed to creak and groan. Clearly it had to come down (the tree, not the shed). Once on the ground it measured over 60 feet tall.

Loon banding is a lot like fishing…you don’t get them all

Fairly typical weather for the Adirondacks with warm days and cool nights with fog over the lakes brought about by the cool air over the warmer lake surface. We again had a couple rainy periods, so I didn’t have to water the garden or the flower beds. The flowers have been going like gang busters, lots of greenery and many blooms. The bee balm is in full flower, and I was just looking out the window before dark and there were six hummers searching out each red bloom and fighting over the next one.

This Manufactured Home Park Will Soon Be Boat Storage, But One Resident Stays to Fight

The sun glitters on the blue waters of Saratoga Lake in upstate New York and refracts off the lines of bright white boats docked at a nearby boat launch and marina. The lake is located near Saratoga Springs, a longtime tourist destination in eastern Saratoga County that’s filled with all the hallmarks of a high-end vacation paradise—5-star hotels, a casino, golf course, racetrack, multiple entertainment venues, and the expensive and exclusive Prime Steak House. But luxury and scenery don’t convey a complete picture of the area.
