Multi-Agency Sheriff cooperation leads to 8 arrests

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, Wright County Sheriff’s Office, Ozark County Sheriff’s Office, Missouri State Highway Patrol and Ava Police Department conducted a Drug Interdiction saturation patrol on 5 Highway from Mansfield to Gainesville on May 28, 2021. During this saturation there were a total of 87 traffic stops made resulting in 8 arrests and 80 warnings for various traffic violations. This saturation patrol utilized both Douglas County K-9 Units, Ozark County K-9 Unit, Howell County K-9 Unit and Oregon County K-9 Unit. All three County Sheriffs would like to thank Howell County and Oregon County K-9 units for their assistance.

The Howell County Health Department reports an 12 new cases of COVID-19 for Howell County. This brings the to-date total number of cases to 3,806 (numbers include Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday). Of the new cases: eight live in West Plains, two live in Mountain View, one lives in Willow Springs and one lives in Caulfield.

Zizzers have strong showing at State Meet, Simpson wins three championships

The West Plains High School Zizzers competed Friday in the Class 4 State Track and Field Championships. The boys team finished 6th overall and girls placed 11th. Riley Simpson became the first Zizzer distance runner in school history to complete the triple crown by winning the state championship in the 3200 meter run, 1600 meter run, and 800 meter run.
