Tulsa city employees to receive new policy regarding COVID-19

TULSA, Okla. (KOKI) — The City of Tulsa is giving employees one month to be vaccinated or get an exemption from the city physician before a new hazard pay policy takes effect for anyone who tests positive for COVID-19. In an email to city employees, Tulsa Mayor G.T. Bynum announced that unvaccinated employees who get sick with COVID-19 will not qualify for hazard pay if they test positive for the virus as it makes a resurgence in Green Country. He is also mandating that unvaccinated city employees must wear a mask when inside a city building. The new hazard pay policy will not begin until September 1st.

Sand Springs man charged with negligent homicide in June 2020 collision

A Sand Springs man was arrested Monday after being charged with negligent homicide in a fatal collision that occurred last year on Oklahoma 97. Heverto Duran Jr., 23, is charged in connection with the June 21, 2020, death of John Franklin George, 55, of Mannford. Authorities said Duran's 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe failed to stop at a stop sign at the 55th Street intersection and hit George's Harley-Davidson motorcycle.
