Charles County Sheriff's Office Recovers Loaded Firearm After Responding to Dispute

On September 11 at 3:30 p.m., officers responded to the parking lot of a business in the 10100 block of Berry Road in Waldorf for the report of a dispute involving a group of people in which at least one person was holding a firearm. When officers arrived, they were able to quickly de-escalate the situation and recover a firearm that had been placed in the suspect’s car as officers pulled into the lot.

Suspect charged in backyard beating

WINCHESTER — A Port Tobacco, Maryland, man is accused of breaking another man’s orbital bone during an assault in Winchester last year. Francis Delmar Tyrone Plater was arrested and charged with malicious wounding on Wednesday. The victim told police he was attacked while attending a backyard party in the 200 block of Fox Drive around 1 a.m. on Aug. 9, 2020, according to criminal complaint.

Director Of Department Of Public Works & Transportation Retiring

LEONARDTOWN, Md. – John Deatrick, Director of the Public Works & Transportation Department, has announced his retirement effective Dec. 31, 2021. Charles County Sheriff's Office: Detectives Identify and Arrest Suspect in Waldorf Burglary

On June 26, two males broke into an apartment on Abberly Place in Waldorf and stole clothing and valuables. Through investigation, detectives were able to identify one of the suspects and obtain an arrest warrant. Members of the CCSO and the U.S. Marshals task force located and arrested Frank Bernard Maddox, 25, of Capital Heights (photo below), on September 2. He was charged with first-degree burglary and theft over $1,500.

SMCSO Seeking Identity For Theft Suspect At 7-Eleven In Charlotte Hall

LEONARDTOWN, Md. - The St. Mary's County Sheriff's Office is seeking the identity of the person pictured in a theft investigation. On Saturday, Sept. 4, 2021 at 12:30 pm, the victim left a black leather bi-fold wallet on the counter of the 7-Eleven convenience store in Charlotte Hall after making a purchase. The suspect, who was the next customer in line, picked the wallet up and put it in his pocket. The wallet contained the victim's driver's license, insurance cards and cash.

Charles County Sheriff's Officer Recovers Loaded Firearm and Suspected Drugs during Traffic Stop

On September 6 at 2:31 p.m., a patrol officer initiated a traffic stop on Popes Creek Court near Piscataway Court in La Plata for an equipment violation. During the stop, the officer located a fully loaded handgun, with the serial number filed off, and suspected marijuana. The driver, Tabari Jovan Cole, 21, of Waldorf, was arrested and charged with having a loaded firearm in a vehicle, knowingly altering a firearm, and illegally transporting a loaded handgun in a vehicle.
