National Night Out Returns to Burbank on August 3

Following a 2020 postponement due to COVID-19 safety restrictions, National Night Out is returning to Burbank at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, August 3. The annual event, which is always held on the first Tuesday in August, consists of the Burbank Police Department and the Burbank Fire Department collaborating with local neighborhood members to put together an outdoor city celebration. Several neighborhoods will take part in the ceremony this year, and Johnny Carson Park will serve as a central gathering point for community members and participating BPD and BFD personnel. Social distancing and appropriate COVID precautions will also be encouraged at the outdoor event.

One Dead, Three Injured in Diamond Bar Crash on 60 Freeway

A 20-year-old man inside a stalled Honda Accord died and two other men just outside the car were injured Saturday when the vehicle was rear-ended by an SUV in the carpool lane of the Pomona (60) Freeway. The man was identified as Andrew Coronado, according to coroner's Lt. David Smith.

To those critical of Simone Biles, take a good look in the mirror. What were you doing at that age? Could you have done it in front of millions of people, under the pressure to perform flawlessly? Confidence is essential in any performance realm, and without it, you are lost. Simone’s difficult decision to step aside was courageous, and my regard for her and what she has accomplished grew exponentially this week. She may or may not return to the heights of her former glory, but her poise during these Games should cement her place as one of the great role models of our time.

Caught On Video: Brawl On Venice Beach Boardwalk

VENICE (CBSLA) – Cellphone video shows an all-out brawl between what appears to be at least three homeless men Wednesday on the Venice Beach Boardwalk. In the video, posted to Twitter, a man with a large pole can be seen charging another man who is exchanging punches with a third man. At one point, a security guard is seen attempting to break up the fight, but to no avail. “It’s not an uncommon sight,” Adam Merchant, assistant manager of the Fig Tree Restaurant, said. Merchant said that fights like this happen all too often and that the homelessness crisis has taken a major toll...
