Lubbock man dies in single-vehicle crash in Hockley County

A 27-year-old Lubbock man is dead after a crash in Hockley County on Saturday night. Dominic Francisco Noyola was traveling east in a Toyota Tacoma on Filly Road between Lovebird Road and Hummingbird Road in Hockley County when he entered a ditch on the south side of Filly Road and took evasive action steering to the left. His vehicle exited the south ditch and came to rest in the north ditch after taking a ride-side skid across the roadway. It came to rest on the passenger side.

TxDOT starts project to install reflective pavement markers this week

The Texas Department of Transportation will start a safety project to install reflective pavement markers across the Lubbock district this week. TRP Construction Group, LLC out of Fort Worth will head the project. The $451,442 project will affect roadways in Hale, Bailey, Castro, Cochran, Crosby, Dawson, Gaines, Garza, Floyd, Hockley, Lamb, Lubbock, Lynn, Parmer, Swisher, Terry and Yoakum counties. Crews started in Hockley County on Monday. No lane closures are planned during the operation but motorists are encouraged to: use caution in work zones; slow down and follow the speed limits; pay attention to any people and equipment; be patient through the work zones. Work is anticipated to wrap in ate June, weather permitting.

County’s Sales Tax revenue totaled $156,002 in March

(AUSTIN) — Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar is advising that the state sales tax revenue totaled $3.37 billion in March, 28.5 % more than in March 2021; however, after adjusting last year’s March totals to account for February sales tax returns not collected until March 2021, due to Winter Storm Uri, March 2022 sales tax revenue was up 37.2 % over comparable collections last year.
