Michigan man dies after contact with downed live wire

HILLSDALE COUNTY, Mich. (FOX 2) - A man died Tuesday morning after having contact with a downed live wire, Michigan State Police said. Police responded to the 2000 block of Chicago Road in Hilldale County's Scipio Township around 8 a.m. They found a 28-year-old Jonesville man dead from the power line. Police said he lived nearby.

1 dead, 1 critically injured after electrocution in Hillsdale County

HILLSDALE COUNTY, Mich. (WILX) - One man is dead after being electrocuted in Scipio Township on Chicago Road. On Tuesday morning, a 28-year-old man who lived in the area died on the scene after touching a live down power line. A second person, a 25-year-old woman from Jonesville was found injured at the scene and was air lifted to the hospital.

Baseball: Union City holds off late Bronson charge to take Branch County Fair win

COLDWATER — The Union City Chargers brought the big bats Tuesday night, opening a big lead over their opponents from Bronson on day two of the Branch County Fair Youth Baseball Tournament. After a tense moment mid-game the Vikings found a new energy and made things very interesting with a huge fourth inning, however the Union City defense regrouped and stopped the Viking attack, holding on to defeat Bronson by the score of 12-5. With the win Union City improves to 1-1 in the tournament and could potentially force a tie atop the tournament standings as they face off with the unbeaten Quincy Orioles on Wednesday. With a win Quincy will claim the outright championship, while with a loss the championship could go to a tiebreaker.

JACKSON, MI -- Tuesday at the 2022 Jackson County Fair saw huge crowds gathering for carnival rides and games and country music concerts. Headliner Hank Williams Jr. was a huge attraction, with concert attendees bringing model miniatures of him to sign, and many more coming to enjoy the music. Texas native Granger Smith opened for Williams, with many singing along and shouting out his signature, “yee yee.”

The Jackson City Council unanimously approved an event application for Bright Walls finale in a Tuesday, Aug. 9 meeting. Murals and entertainment will hit the streets one last time in downtown Jackson Sept. 8-11, Bright Walls founder and co-director Clay McAndrews said.
