Prior to Clark County sheriff’s deputies fatally shooting Kfin Karuo on Oct. 17, it was the Vancouver Police Department closing in on the 28-year-old. Now that Vancouver police are the lead agency investigating his shooting, state and local activists who have recently championed police accountability and transparency say the department should step away.

Readers Respond to Street Debate Over People Living in RVs

A post appeared Oct. 15 on the social media app Nextdoor announcing a block party intended to irritate people living in RVs and other vehicles on a North Portland street. Instead, at noon the next day, roughly 15 black-clad counterprotesters showed up. The woman who posted the event flyer said the call to “be loud and obnoxious” was intended as humor. Portland police make multiple arrests, tow cars to fight against street racing

PORTLAND, Ore. (KPTV) – Portland police said they made multiple arrests, wrote citations, and towed cars over the weekend in an effort to stop street racing. On Saturday night, there were 4 arrests and two cars towed. On Sunday night, participants gathered in multiple places including Southeast 48th Avenue and Southeast Division Street, the 1500 block of Northeast Killingsworth Street, various areas around Northeast Grand Avenue and Northeast Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard, and a parking garage of Lloyd Center (1600 block of Northeast Multnomah Street).

The Portland Police Bureau responded to 19 shootings over the weekend that left at least two people dead, some injured and several people arrested. According to police, at least 95 shell casings were recovered from all of the incidents, as well as some firearms. Of the 19 shootings, the majority had no injuries or arrests.

Clackamas County grand jury finds deputy’s fatal shooting of man in Happy Valley justified

A Clackamas County grand jury has unanimously found that a deputy’s fatal shooting of an armed man during a foot chase in Happy Valley last month was justified. Deputy Jansen Bento fired three shots at Nathan T. Honeycutt, 26, striking him in the chest, after Honeycutt failed to follow orders to drop his gun as deputies were trying to arrest him, according to a statement issued by the Clackamas County District Attorney’s Office.

Grand Ronde to Receive $2 Million in Federal Funds for Willamette Falls Redevelopment

Grand Ronde, OR. The Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde’s redevelopment project at Willamette Falls is slated to receive $2 million in federal funding toward infrastructure improvements at the former site of the Blue Heron paper mill.
