HILL COUNTY, Texas (FOX 44) – A man has been found dead after an extensive search in Hill County. The Hill County Sheriff’s Office’s Dispatch Center received a call at 6:52 p.m. Wednesday from a Union Pacific Railroad employee reporting a vehicle along the railroad tracks, but off of the roadway – at Hill County Road 3105 and Hill County Road 3104. The vehicle was registered to a man out of the Austin area.

HILL COUNTY, Texas (FOX 44) – A traffic stop in Hill County leads to a discovery of thousands of dollars in marijuana. Night shift officers with the Itasca Police Department stopped a vehicle on Monday for a traffic infraction within the City. The driver was possibly traveling from Oklahoma City to Harker Heights.

A landmark church that has been part of the Whitney, Texas community for around 150 years has gone up in flames. KWTX is reporting that officials are still investigating the cause of the fire at Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church, and have reason to believe it may have been set on purpose.

WHITNEY, Texas (FOX 44) – The Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Whitney has suffered heavy damage in a fire. The Whitney Volunteer Fire Department, in addition to several other area volunteer fire departments such as Lake View and Peoria, were dispatched to 224 Pecos Street around 10:30 p.m. Sunday. The extreme weather temperatures combined with the heat from the fire limited the fire units’ ability to enter the structure.

WHITNEY, Texas (KWTX) -A historic church that has been part of the Whitney community for over a century has gone up in flames. “They say this church has been around for about 150 years,” Pastor Shane Metcalf of Pleasant Hill Missionary Baptist Church. “It’s a historical landmark and the first African American church in Hill County.”

Cedar Hill, Texas (CBSDFW.COM) - One person is dead and another in custody after a shooting in Cedal Hill earlier this morning.On Saturday, May 14 at about 9:08 a.m., Cedar Hill police and medics responded to the 400 block of Dollins Street in reference to a shooting with injuries.When officers arrived, they found two victims. One was pronounced deceased at the scene and the other was taken to an area hospital in stable condition. Police believe his injuries are not life-threatening.Police said that all indications are that this is an isolated incident. The suspect has been identified as Willie Vanross, 37. He is in custody at the Dallas County Jail and has been charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and murder. His bond has not been set.Police do not plan to release the victims' identities since the investigation is ongoing.

HILL COUNTY, Texas (FOX 44) – A suspect is being sought in a catalytic converter theft at a Hill County convenience store. Around 6:00 p.m. Sunday, an early 1990’s red extended cab F-150 was used in the theft of catalytic converters at Big Jim’s Convenience Store. The possible license plate starts with BSP.

Douglas Mitchell McDaniel, 77, of Moss Hill, Texas passed on to be with the Lord, Tuesday, May 3, 2022 at Liberty Dayton Regional Medical Center in Liberty, Texas. Mr. McDaniel was born on September 29, 1944 to the late Maness McDaniel and Lizzie Green in Liberty, Texas. Mr. McDaniel was a retired operator for Lyondell Chemical. He was a US Vietnam Army Veteran. He was a faithful member of Hardin Baptist Church in Hardin, Texas.

BRYAN, Texas (KBTX) - Saturday evening brought parts of the Brazos Valley quarter, golfball, and baseball size hail producing severe thunderstorms. Sunday only managed a few rumbles and one quarter size hail report in the Conroe area during the afternoon hours. Now, the attention turns to the west as stormy weather will attempt to survive the journey over I-35 in the pre-sunrise hours of Monday.

MOUNT CALM, Texas (FOX 44) – The Hill County Sheriff’s Office says you can run, but you’re just going to go to jail tired. A Sheriff’s deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop at approximately 8:28 p.m. Monday on a vehicle on Highway 31 in Mount Calm. The vehicle fled from the deputy, starting a brief pursuit.
