In loving memory of JoAnne Hensley: 1940- 2021

We regretfully announce the passing of our mom, LaDonna “JoAnne” Hensley, who passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loved ones Aug. 25, 2021 at the age of 80. JoAnne was born to John and Mary Wynn on Oct. 27, 1940, in the city of Pendleton, Oregon, and graduated from Echo High School, class of 1958. She worked in the service industry most of her life. She belonged to several fraternal organizations including the Woodland Washington Moose Lodge #2394, Newport Oregon Eagles #2817 and was a lifetime member of the Woodland Washington VFW Ladies Auxiliary #1927. She will be forever loved, forever remembered and her bright smile missed.

Obit: Mary Alice Thompson

Mary Alice Thompson, 89, of Sumpter, Oregon, passed away Oct. 13, 2021, surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born on Nov. 26, 1931, in Baker City, Oregon, to Green Hudspeth and Rachel Hanby Hudspeth. Mary’s early years were spent on the ranch owned by her father and uncles. The ranch is now known as the “Red Horse Ranch.” She enjoyed riding horses with her siblings and living in the mountains. Mary always had a cheerful greeting for the guests coming to stay at the ranch or to go on a guided hunt.

Obit: Carol Marlene (Fuller) Sackett

Carol Marlene (Fuller) Sackett was born on Jan. 11, 1955, in Ontario, Oregon, to Leonard and Phyllis (Dunbrasky) Fuller, and received her halo on Oct. 12, 2021. She graduated from Pendleton High School in 1973 and went on to work a variety of jobs. She met Bernie Sackett, the love of her life, and they were married in 1984 and eternally devoted to each other.

Lee Patrick Harries

On Wednesday October 6, 2021, Lee Patrick Harries, loving father of two, grandfather of four, passed away at the age of 59. Lee was born March 19, 1962 in Couer d’ Alene Idaho to John and Gloria (Jackson) Harries. He earned his AA Degree in engineering from Columbia Basin College in Pasco WA in 1983. He married the same year to Linda (Tweeten) Harries March of 1983 and had their first child Jennifer Harries August of 1983. They welcomed their second child Nicholas Harries four years later in July of 1987. Jennifer gave Lee three grandchildren, two girls and one boy, and Nicholas gave him one granddaughter by marriage.

Milton William “Bill” Durand, 73, of La Grande, Oregon, went to Heaven on October 2, after a short battle with cancer. His wife, daughter and brother were by his side. A celebration of life will be held at the Youth For Christ building in La Grande on October 23, 2021, at 11 am.

Obit: Delmer O. Crawford

Delmer O. Crawford of Hermiston, was born April 29, 1924, outside of Ione, on the Oregon Trail to parents, Wate and Mabel (Phillips) Crawford. He died Oct. 4, 2021, in Hermiston at the age of 97 years. Delmer was raised and attended school in Ione before joining the United States Navy. He served during World War II until his honorable discharge and returned home and married Francine Ely April 22, 1949.
