Jim “Mr. Jim” Gollehon, age 75, of Lebanon, Nebraska, passed away Tuesday afternoon, July 26, 2022, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, NE. Jim Morris Gollehon was born on February 11, 1947, to Durwood and Mary Ann (Parson) Gollehon in O’Neill, Nebraska, two days later moved to Lebanon, NE. He attended Lebanon, NE as well as Morehead City, NC school systems his whole life, graduating from Morehead City High School in 1964.

Sea Dragons compete at championship

On July 16 in Oxford, Nebraska, the Holyoke Sea Dragons swim team competed at the championship swim meet with the Plains Tsunami League. Holyoke swimmers who earned individual first-place honors include Ridley Brinkema, 200 long free and 100 individual medley; Rhettly Schlachter, 25 butterfly and 50 individual medley; Link Luedke, 50 freestyle, 25 backstroke and 25 short free; Lindyn Luedke, 25 backstroke; Rorey Schneller, 50 backstroke; and Emery Wolf, 25 short free.

Nebraska Wildfire alert: Road 702 Fire update

Incident location: 8 Miles SW of Cambridge, NE Impacted area: 44024 Acres. The Road 702 Fire began in Kansas on April 22, 2022 and grew in a relatively narrow strip to the north up to the Republican River in Nebraska, covering approximately 28 miles rapidly. Multiple communities were evacuated along the path of the wildfire. The Road 702 Fire is estimated to be 44,024 acres. Inactive fire edge is currently limiting fire spread but spotting potential is moderate, flareups or spot fires will spread with moderate rates of spread across all fuels. Firefighters will continue to secure existing firelines by mopping up and multiple helicopters are supporting the crews by providing water to cool hotspots.
