Is it Time for Grocery Stores Start Allowing Employees to Accept Tips?

This type of debate only happens in East Texas, where people are actually voicing their opinions online about wanting to be able to tip employees that give great customer service. Just another reason why we should love living here, we have great friends and neighbors who for the most part look out for each other. This topic was brought up in a online group in Kilgore and lots of people agreed, that it's time for grocery stores to allow their employees to accept a tip without it costing them their jobs.

Schlotzsky's in Longview reopens after December fire

Schlotzsky's began serving customers again in Longview this week. The restaurant at 1429 W. Loop 281 had been closed since it was damaged by a fire in December. "We did a silent opening (Wednesday), and it went very well," said Tom Moore, whose family owns the Longview and Tyler Schlotzsky's restaurants. The restaurant invited some contractors to come in, and other diners stopped in as well when they saw it was open.

American Kennel Club holds first dog show at Maude Cobb since 2019

LONGVIEW, Texas (KLTV) - Maude Cobb in Longview has gone to the dogs, but just for the weekend. And these are well behaved dogs. The Longview Kennel Club is holding their AKC Licensed All Breed Dog Show for the first time since 2019. Hundreds of dogs are competing to most closely match their breed’s standard. For many competitors this is their first show in quite some time.

McDonald's on Estes Parkway in Longview plans move to new, larger building

McDonald's on Estes Parkway in Longview will move about a mile to a new, larger building early next year. The restaurant is on the north side of Interstate 20 at 3623 Estes Parkway. An application for a site plan review to the city of Longview indicates the new building at 3118 Estes Parkway would have a construction value of $1 million.
