Tracking fall foliage by trolley

A great way for families to enjoy the colors of an upstate autumn is from the windows of a vintage electric trolley car at the New York Museum of Transportation in Rush. Rides operate Sundays only, October 9, 16, and 30 and are included free with admission to the museum. The 20-minute rides depart at 11:30 a.m., 12:30, 1:30, 2:30 and 3:30 p.m. The museum is open 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. No reservations are needed.

Women's Runners Show Well Against Stiff Competitors in NY

Hastings Gray finished as the lead runner for Berry's women's cross country team, Saturday morning in Geneseo, N.Y. at the Mike Woods Invitational. Gray finished in a time of 23:57.7, earning a top 60 time crossing the line in 51st overall with a mile split of 6:26. Second to finish for Berry was Asena Anderson in a time of 24:12.9, placing 67th overall. Third to cross the finish line for the Vikings was Norine Moore finishing in a time of 24:35.6.

On Saturday, September 10th, Autumn in the Village returned to Livonia after a two-year Covid hiatus. This festival is held every year on the second Saturday of September by the Village of Livonia and is organized by a volunteer committee. In 2001, Autumn in the Village began as a way to recognize village businesses and to thank them for the patience they had shown during extensive Routes 15 & 20A renovations.

Jonny B’s Custom BBQ In Lima Is Closing

The popular food truck turned bricks-and-mortar restaurant, Jonny B’s Custom BBQ, at 1883 Rochester Street in downtown Lima announced they are closing their doors effective immediately. The veteran-owned business opened its doors during the height of the Covid-19 pandemic in September 2020. Jonny B’s was one of a handful of Livingston County businesses who received funding from the New York State Community Development Block Grant program in 2020. Citing a nationwide trend of small businesses struggling in a post-pandemic economy, the business decided to seize operations. However, the last sentence of their notice posted to their Facebook page on September 26, 2022 does offer patrons some hope. The business didn’t rule out moving to a new location at some point in the future.

Great Moments Fill HF-L Fall Weekend

Fall Weekend at Honeoye Falls-Lima was filled with sunshine and lots of smiles, on and off the playing fields. A highlight of the Fall Weekend was the parade on September 24. The theme of Fall Weekend floats was Movie Genres. Led by the New York State Police and the American Legion Post #664, the first responders from Lima Ambulance were recognized along with the Masonic Lodge. The members of the HF-L Board of Education followed them.

National Weather Service Says Tornado Touched Down in the Catskills

New York isn't often associated with tornadoes. However, the National Weather Service says three separate tornadoes have down in parts of the state over the past week. The NWS says a tornado struck the town of Wayland in Steuben County the evening of September 19. NBC says a second weak tornado struck late Sunday, affecting the hamlet of Mattituck on Long Island.

No new lakefront property for town of Canandaigua

CANANDAIGUA, NY — The second of two town of Canandaigua proposals to buy lakefront property and increase public access to Canandaigua Lake appears to be dead in the water. The Town Board deadlocked at 2-2 on allowing Town Manager Doug Finch to execute an option agreement to purchase land at 3950 County Road 16. In July, the board voted to table a similar resolution. The board is operating at less than full strength after the passing earlier in the year of Councilman Gary Davis, whose seat was not filled.
