On May 1, 28 Bowdon Middle School students participated in the West Georgia Middle School Association Weightlifting Meet held in Heard County. Mrs. Jean Maxwell Richardson, 88, of Villa Rica, Georgia, passed away Friday, April 30, 2021. She was born Feb. 14, 1933, in Heard County, Georgia, the daughter of the late Mr. Charlie Fletcher Maxwell and the late Mrs. Myrtice Bell Maxwell. Mrs. Richardson was a homemaker, who enjoyed cooking and tending to her plants. She loved her family, especially her grandkids. Mrs. Richardson was Baptist in faith and a member of First Baptist Church of Villa Rica.

New Safety Measures at HCHS

Heard County High School has decided to tweak the front entryway access policy to ensure greater safety for students and faculty. Starting on April 21, the outside front doors will remain closed and locked. Individuals will need to press a button and identify themselves to front office personnel prior to being allowed building access. Previously, individuals could enter the main lobby of the front office and walk up to speak face to face with office staff. “We have always prided ourselves in being welcoming and open to our community,” stated J.J. Wahl, principal of Heard County High School. “However, we have to be mindful of the realities of our society and keep the safety of our students as a top priority.”

Heard County High School Senior Awarded Full Music Scholarship. Heard County High School is proud to announce that senior Charity Abrahamson-Anglin is receiving a full tuition music scholarship to Southern Union State College in Alabama. The awarding of the scholarship stems from a March 8 audition for the Southern Union Sound, the college's prestigious show choir. A lifetime resident of Heard County, Abrahamson-Anglin hopes to major in Language Arts and ultimately wants to build a career as a language arts teacher. “I could not be prouder of Charity,” states J.J.
