300 Attend Final Movie Night of 2022

Fernley, Nevada – The final movie night for the 2022 season was the most attended movie in Fernley, Nevada, this year. Biggest Little Radio hosted residents for a screening of Sing 2, the 2021 computer animated musical from Universal Pictures. Approximately 300 parents, grandparents and children (as well as adults who simply enjoy movies in the park) watched Sing 2 under a brilliant night sky in the Fernley Out of Town Park on Saturday, August 13.

Victim identified as Fernley man in fatal crash near Lovelock

The person who was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Interstate 80 near Lovelock on Aug. 2 has been identified as James Edward Compau, a 51-year-old resident of Fernley. According to the Nevada State Police Highway Patrol Division, Compau was traveling westbound on I-80 in a 2005 Peterbilt tractor-trailer combination near mile marker 106. The tractor trailer-combination left the roadway to the left and struck a concrete barrier. The tractor-trailer combination went down an embankment and over the divided bridge barrier overturning and became detached. The tractor became fully engulfed in flames. The tractor-trailer came to rest on its roof in the dirt area beneath I-80 overpass.

Little Free Libraries Popping up Everywhere

A nationwide program started by Todd H. Bol in 2009, A Little Free Library is catching on through the Fallon community with the latest installation at 4800 Alcorn Road. The first little library in the community was installed at the Paiute Shoshone Administration Complex in March of 2015. Fifteen students from UNR dedicated their time during their Spring Break to install Little Free Libraries around Nevada, and partnered with UNR Cooperative Extension, Churchill County Museum, and the Tribe.
