Decorative ceiling falls at bank in downtown Jackson

JACKSON, Ky. (WYMT) - Emergency crews in Breathitt County responded to a call of a partially collapsed building in downtown Jackson Tuesday morning. When crews arrived, they discovered that a building had not collapsed, but rather a decorative ceiling had fallen from the back portion of the Citizens Bank on Main Street.

Derrick Bowling has been appointed as a new agency manager with Kentucky Farm Bureau (KFB) Insurance at the Perry County Farm Bureau located in the Hazard Village Shopping Center office. Bowling’s appointment was announced in Louisville by Chuck Osborne, vice president of Agency Support and Marketing for KFB Insurance. Last week, from Sept. 16-18, the 40th annual Black Gold Festival was held in downtown Hazard. The event featured several new attractions and vendors, as well as returning favorites. Hazard Independent sets COVID-19 Operations Plan

The Kentucky General Assembly recently passed Senate Bill 1 on Sept. 9 during a special session called by Gov. Andy Beshear. SB 1 requires all public-school districts in the state of Kentucky to develop a COVID-19 Operations Plan. This plan addresses several measures including face mask requirements, quarantine procedures, Test to Stay, non-traditional instruction (NTI) days and remote learning. On Sept. 18, Hazard Independent Superintendent Sondra Combs released an online statement informing the community about the district’s COVID-19 Operations Plan.
