Coffeyville Man Charged With Intent To Manufacture & Distribution

Coffeyville man was arrested for distribution of opiates, possession of paraphernalia with intent to manufacture, no drug tax stamp and no vehicle registration. Earlier this week, 41-year-old Ronald Brooks Jr., was arrested by Coffeyville Police. The case has been turned over to the Montgomery County Attorney’s office for review and formal charges to be filed.

Caney PD Recovers Stolen Weapon During Traffic Stop

Earlier this week, Officers with the Caney Police Department performed a traffic stop at 2nd St. and Highway 75 due to alleged equipment violations. The driver, 43-year-old Benjamin Valley from Anderson, MO, according to the Caney PD, had a .40 caliber pistol concealed on his person in addition to other weapons in the vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed drugs and paraphernalia. One of the weapons in Valley’s possession was an alleged stolen pistol from Albuquerque, NM.

Court Report for Friday August 19, 2022

Five arraignments were heard Friday at the Washington County Courthouse that covered a variety of alleged criminal activities:. Joshua Mikel Tatum appeared on charges of domestic abuse in the presence of a minor child. Tatum is accused of strangling another adult while at a park in the City of Dewey while turning over his children as part of a custody arrangement. Tatum will be back in court on August 26 and he has a $25,000 bond.

Former MG County Assistant Prosecutor Formally Charged

Montgomery County’s former assistant prosecutor was formally charged late last week with 3 misdemeanors. According to the Montgomery County Chronicle, David Yoder of Hutchinson, a special prosecuting attorney, charged Daylene B. Walls with driving under the influence of alcohol, battery on a law enforcement officer, and interference with a LEO. This was a result of a traffic incident on June 13th.

Agenda For MG Commissioners Regular Weekly Meeting Monday

The Montgomery County Board Of Commissioners will meet for their regular session Monday, August 22 at 9 am in the lower level of the Judicial Center in Independence. The Agenda shows they will meet with Nancy Clubine, the County Treasurer, followed by Lee Miller with Emergency Management about a possible grant-funded short-term position for victim services. Jim Wright with Public Works will meet with the board at about 9:30. Human Resources director, Becky Lewis will discuss the health fair. Sheriff Ron Wade will wrap things up at approximately 10.

New charges have been filed in the case of a December double-shooting that left two men dead in a Bartlesville bar and split jurisdiction over their deaths. On Dec. 13, in an argument at the Kickstand Saloon, 1810 SW Frank Phillips Blvd., Gregory Rogers allegedly shot Austin Standeford and Van Parson. The men died shortly after and Rogers fled, turning himself in to Tulsa police the next day.

Update on Lee Lake Skate Park Lighting Project

In a recent post on the City of Bartlesville website, an article outlined where the city stands on the lighting project for Lee Lake Skate Park. City staff planned on taking bids on the lighting earlier this year but were forced to table it until after July due to the General Obligation Bond funding being unavailable. The City now hopes to be able to place a call for bids sometime in September so construction can start before winter.

It is doubtful the amount of rain today was enough to persuade Caney city councilors to remove the water conservation warning issued Monday. The current warning is unrelated to the mechanical issue at the water plant late last week but is in response to the limited water supply in the Little Caney River, which serves as Caney’s water source. A backup supply from Timber Hill Lake, a watershed north of Niotaze has been tapped out.
